This week sees the 39th aniversary of Roe vs. Wade but reproductive health has never been under attack like it is today. So last night saw us get to enjoy an event we had long planned with a variety of advocacy groups on reproductive rights. Working together with the University of Southern California Democrats, we invited representatives from Planned Parenthood, the National Organization for Women, and the National Women’s Political Caucus who came to USC to join Students for Barack Obama to discuss the issues, share stories around sexual health issues and talk about what was at stake for the election.
The event was really well attended and we heard a number of great personal stories, ideas for getting information about reproductive health more widespread, and much discussion of how large the stakes are for young people.
We followed up the event by helping the head of the USC Democrats write an Op-Ed for the school newspaper informing an even broader audience of the importance of the issue.
